How we rate high roller casinos

The short version

A rating on this site comes from three things: the Gambling Commission register, what each casino publishes in its own terms and pages, and our team's tests. The licence comes from the register and the casino's own licence statement. Limits, VIP terms and bonuses come from the casino's own pages. Our team tests the casinos and checks every fact before it is published. Who the team is can be read on the team page.

The licence

The Gambling Commission licenses and regulates the businesses that provide gambling in Great Britain, so its register is where we start.

Every casino we list is on that register, and we check each one there.

We read the register's files for a casino's domain names, trading names and business, then check them against the licence statement in the casino's own terms.

Limits and VIP terms

We give table limits, withdrawal limits and VIP programme terms as numbers, each with its source, exactly as the casino gives them. We never describe a limit with an adjective such as high or generous.

When a VIP scheme is invitation only, we say so plainly. We never push a bigger stake: a limit is a ceiling the casino sets, not a target.

Bonuses and wagering

A welcome offer is shown with its wagering, its maximum bet and its expiry, as the casino gives them. Wagering is the number of times you must play through a bonus before the casino lets you withdraw.

Set your own limits before you accept any offer. Our responsible gambling page covers the tools and the help services.

How current the figures are

Every page shows when it was last updated, beside the team byline. A figure is true as of that date, not as of the day you open the page.

A casino can change a limit, a VIP term or an offer after we read it. Before you deposit, check the figure on the casino's own page.

How we rate a casino

A rating is out of 5. It is worked out from scored criteria, each with a weight: bonuses 20, games 20, account and safety 15, VIP and loyalty 10, support 10 and mobile 5. The weights add up to 80.

Payments and speed is shown but not scored, so its weight is 0. We show the payment methods and the pending period a casino gives, and they do not move the rating.

If a casino's own pages do not let us score a criterion, we leave that criterion out for that casino and scale the rest to 5. A figure that is missing is left out; it is never counted as a poor result.

The criteria look at specific items. Bonuses look at the welcome offer and its wagering. Games look at what the casino claims about its games. Account and safety looks at the register status of its licences, its responsible gambling tools, whether it names an alternative dispute resolution provider for complaints, and its identity verification clause. VIP and loyalty looks at the programme and its tiers. Support looks at the channels it lists. Mobile looks at whether it has an iOS or an Android app.

If you think we are wrong

When a fact on this site is wrong, we read the casino's own page again correct our figure and update the date at the top of the page.
